Bio:

Michael is a corporate communications leader with more than two decades of in-house and agency experience in biopharmaceuticals and MedTech. He has a proven track record in leading integrated communications programs that drive measurable impact, as well as in coaching and advising C-level decision makers.  

Currently, he serves as director of Global Media Relations at Merck, where he is responsible for developing and executing the company’s global media strategy, as well as leading financial communications. During his five years at Merck, Michael also oversaw day-to-day communications for the $10B+ U.S. Oncology business unit, supporting its period of transformative growth. In addition, he led executive communications and thought leadership for the Human Health division, driving employee messages across 75+ markets.

Prior to Merck, Michael served as director of Public Relations & Communications for $7B global medical device leader Olympus’s endoscopy, surgical and corporate divisions. There he led corporate communications, corporate citizenship, and external and internal communications across North and South America. During his four years at Olympus, Michael generated the largest increase in positive earned media in company history.

Earlier in his career, Michael worked at boutique marketing communications agency Zer0 to 5ive, where he led integrated communications for many startups and leading brands, including the industry’s first rapid HIV and hepatitis C tests.
