Bio:
Mary Kathryn Steel is a strategic communications executive with nearly 20 years of experience shaping enterprise narratives and leading high-impact initiatives across pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and consumer sectors. Currently serving as Executive Director of Leadership and Enterprise Communications at Bristol Myers Squibb, where she partners with six Leadership Team members, including the CEO and Board Chair, to drive organizational alignment and purpose-driven culture during periods of significant transformation.
Previously, as Senior Director and Head of Executive Communications at AbbVie, she positioned executives on complex issues ranging from drug pricing to executive compensation. Her work contributed to AbbVie's #1 pharma company ranking by Reputation Institute and multiple industry accolades.
Earlier roles include Head of North America Media at Sanofi, where she managed crisis communications and product launches, and Director at FTI Consulting, where she led award-winning campaigns for clients including adidas Group-Reebok and Shire. She began her career at The Coca-Cola Company, supporting executives at global events and developing sustainability communications.
A National Coca-Cola Scholar, she serves as Chair Emeritus of the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation's Advisory Board and is an Aspen Institute Vanguard Society Fellow. Named a “DC Power Couple” by the Washington Post, MK lives with her husband, two kids and a very energetic Boston Terrier
